Our Shire’s new General Manager, Dr Catherine Dale was our guest speaker recently. Dr Dale was attracted to Eurobodalla because of previous visits to "God’s own country".
She summarises her job under three main headings: (1) she is accountable to Council; (2) she must organise her staff so that they can meet Council’s needs with efficiency; (3) she must be aware of community hopes and needs.
Turning to the Moruya area, Dr Dale spoke of the value of a thriving Jockey Club, the uniqueness of the Mogo Zoo and the publicity value of the “River Cottage” spin off at Tilba - all contributing to attracting more tourists.
Looking to the future, Dr Dale said there is still much to do on the Rural Lands strategy front in a Shire where 76% of the land is either National Parks or State Forests
